Granada signs Mack

Fireback Entertainment’s children’s live action series to be distributed by firm.
Granada International has acquired worldwide distribution rights (excluding UK DVD) for new kids’ live action series Captain Mack.
Produced by Fireback Entertainment, the series was commissioned by CITV and will be launched by Granada at MIPTV in April. Combining live action with animation, the 52x11-minute show is aimed at three to six year-olds, focusing on superhero Captain Mack.
“We are always looking for fresh and engaging new programmes for young viewers and Captain Mack certainly fits the bill – it is different and quirky with huge charm,” said Emmanuelle Namiech, director of acquisitions and co-productions at Granada International.
“We’re certain that it will be a hit with international kids buyers in Cannes. We’re also very excited to be working with John Bullivant and his team at Fireback.”
Bullivant, joint MD at Fireback, added: “We saw a clear gap in the market for a rocket riding, action hero for children aged three to six and a chance to offer youngsters an exciting champion who ‘saves the day’ without the need for bad guys or violence. That’s what Captain Mack delivers.”
