US: Jakks signs up country music star

Firm plans toys and related products for American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift.
Jakks Pacific continues to broaden its portfolio of licences, today revealing that it is to roll out toys and other products based on the award winning US country music star Taylor Swift.
The firm has secured a worldwide licensing agreement with entertainment and sports agency Creative Artists Agency. Jakks now plans to launch a line of fashion dolls wearing Swift's fashions, role play toys (including her signature crystal guitar), accessories and craft and activity sets.
The collection should hit the US this autumn.
"Tweens have developed a great connection with Taylor Swift, resulting in an aspirational following that not only enables girls to emulate this beautiful young country star, but encourages them to believe in themselves," said Jennifer Richmond, senior VP of licensing and media at Jakks Pacific.
"We will work to ensure that the products embody the uniqueness and freshness of Taylor Swift."
Swift's debut album was released in late 2006 and has spawned three top ten singles on the US Billboard Hot Country Songs, including the number one Our Song. The three singles have also all reached the top 40 on the Billboard Hot 100.
