Firm becomes sole supplier of posters to supermarket chain.

Pyramid Posters has inked a deal with supermarket chain Sainsbury's to become its sole supplier of posters from April.

The deal comes as Sainsbury's is looking to increase its non-food portfolio in-store.

Pyramid will be allocated a permanent racking space in-store, offering a wide range of stock to appeal to the broad customer demographic.

This is the latest boost for Pyramid, which has seen its export sales grow by over 40 per cent in the last 12 months, as it looks to bolster its position in the global poster market.

"We have provided Sainsbury's with an exclusive offering which will establish them as a leading destination for posters," said Simon Phelps, Pyramid's UK sales manager. "We plan to target not only younger consumers, but also older teenagers and students, who account for the majority of poster sales within the UK.

"Although we control approximately 55 per cent of the UK poster market, in terms of retail value, we are keen to expand and are in discussions with a number of leading retailers.

"To date, we have established exclusive distribution agreements with a range of high profile customers including WH Smiths, Zavvi, The Entertainer and Disney Stores, so we are extremely pleased to welcome Sainsbury's on board."

The firm's success in the poster market is now being complemented by its officially licensed art print and canvas selection, as well as its collection of licensed merchandise.
