Two interactive book apps roll out for Symbian smartphones
Users of Nokia's new Symbian smartphones can now interact with their favourite friends from Sesame Street, with Sesame Workshop having launched its first two apps for the devices.
The 100th Day of School and Big Block Party both offer children the opportunity to interact with Elmo while reading the story. Appearing on every page as a guide to the illustrated story, Elmo speaks to readers when they touch the screen and asks story-related questions to engage children and extend the learning. Each app features read-aloud adult narration, as well as text highlighting to help new readers.
"We are excited to bring Sesame Street fun and learning to Nokia smartphones with the introduction of these two apps," said Scott Chambers, senior vice president, Worldwide Media Distribution, Sesame Workshop. "Sesame Workshop is always looking to give children opportunities to engage in literacy development, and now Nokia users can enjoy reading with their Sesame Street friends wherever they go."
The 100th Day of School app is available as a free download and Big Block Party is priced at $1.99.
