Studio seals cable distribution deal for first self produced movies including Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk.

Marvel Studios has entered into its first basic cable distribution relationship for its self produced movies with FX.

Under the terms of the five film deal, Marvel will provide FX with the rights to this summer's hotly anticipated Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk, plus three other movies to be named at a later date.

The deal also includes significant FX marketing commitments in support of each film's theatrical launch.

"FX is a great home for Marvel Studios' movies," said David Maisel, chairman of Marvel Studios.

"This deal is a great vote of confidence for not only Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk, but the overall launch of the new Marvel Studios."

The deal with FX does not include broadcast TV rights, Canadian rights or the second free TV window.

Elsewhere, Marvel Entertainment president Simon Philips has been talking about the firm's entry into the Chinese market.

The company is apparently looking at products such as DVDs, TV programmes, cartoon books and toys for Chinese customers based on its properties.
