New teen virtual community, VizWoz, has launched in the UK, targeting the 11 to 14 age group.

VizWoz - www.vizwoz.com - was founded by entrepreneur, Daniel Laurence, who also founded School Stickers, the UK's largest sticker company and MyStickers, the UK's largest school incentive and reward initiative.

VizWoz encompasses a host of imaginery worlds in a theme park style. Teen users can create and customise their own character avatars, all of whom move on futuristic hoverboards. Its aim is to mix chat, single and multiplayer games, interactivity and user generated content.

"VizWoz, a stimulating, interesting and safe space for kids and teenagers to explore and 'hover and hang out in' whilst stretching their imagination and creativity, is set to become the future of chat and gaming," said Laurence. "The service aims to produce a catalyst for interaction and virtual entertainment in its most realistic form."

Basic membership to the site is free and allows users to enter and explore with others, send messages to friends, play games and earn the site currency, Viz Dolla. VIP membership (from £2.95 a month) means users can access additional rooms and games, clothes and accessories for the avatars, plus additional rooms on the VizWoz servers.

Backers include Doug Richard of Dragon's Den fame.
