Children's fantasy adventure book Hollow Earth will hit the small screen.
Zodiak Kids UK has picked up the TV rights for Hollow Earth – the kids book written by Dr Who star John Barrowman and his sister Carole Barrowman.
The international distribution rights were obtained from Capel & Land Ltd.
The TV show will be developed by Zodiak’s production company The Foundation, in conjunction with Barrowman Barker Productions.
Hollow Earth tells the story of 12-year-old twins Matt and Emily Calder who have supernatural powers. They can bring art to life or enter paintings.
The book was published in February this year by Buster Books and has sold over 28,000 copies to date.
Doctor Who and Torchwood star John Barrowman said: “We are so thrilled to have our TV rights in such good hands. We can't wait to see all of Matt and Em's wild adventures and all their art come to life for viewers.”
The Foundation’s joint MD Vanessa Hill added: “We are very excited about a co-production partnership with Barrowman Barker Productions. Hollow Earth promises to be an action packed children’s drama series.”
Capel & Land also recently secured a deal with US publisher Aladdin to publish books in the US this autumn.
