Firm ties up with Nintendo of America for anti-piracy drive.

Some 47 million fake Pokémon trading cards have been seized and destroyed as part of a massive counterfeit crackdown by Pokémon USA and Nintendo of America.

The two companies joined forces for the anti-piracy action which, over the past 16 months has seen production facilities in China, Thailand, Singapore, Poland, Italy, Czech Republic and Australia raided.

According to ICv2 News, at the end of March authorities in New York raided seven stores that were selling fake Pokémon cards, seizing thousands of products and making several arrests.

A Chinese raid netted 1.2 million counterfeit cards, while another seizure in the country made last year resulted in the destruction of 26 million illegally produced cards.
