The new animation imagines the author actually lived through his stories as a young man.

4Kids entertainment has picked up the rights to The Extraordinary Adventures of Jules Verne - a new animated series developed by Lux Vide in cooperation with Rai Fiction and Musicartoon.

Described as an  ‘action/comedy’, the cartoon imagines that the ‘Around the World in Eighty Days’ author experienced the stories that he wrote about.

Scheduled for a spring 2013 debut, the animation is aimed at six to 11 year olds and is compromised of 26 x 26 minute episodes, each of which promises to explore a different adventure.

The licensing programme will kick off with toys, games, interactive and collectables in 2013 with apparel, back to school and accessories following later in the year.

A style guide is ready for potential licensees to view.

Matilde Bernabei, president of Lux Vide, adds: “We are very pleased to be working with 4Kids Entertainment who has demonstrated success in kids animation. We are looking forward to developing an exciting licensing programme for Jules Verne together with 4Kids.”

Luca Bernabei, head of production at Lux Vide, said: “I’m delighted with both the Italian quality of the design and the uniqueness of the stories we have created. Jules Verne’s message and credo to use talents to the best ability is what makes Jules a super hero.”
