Aardman bags another famous voice

Former Coronation Street actress to voice new character in Wallace & Gromit special.

Aardman has signed up former Coronation Street actress Sally Lindsay to be the voice of a new character in Wallace & Gromit adventure, A Matter of Loaf and Death.

Lindsay, who played barmaid Shelly Unwin in the soap, will be Piella Bakewell, a former star of the Bake-O-Lite bread commercials and Wallace's love interest.

"I was driving along the M5 listening to a radio interview and heard this colourful and characterful voice - it was a perfect match for Wallace," said creator Nick Park.

A Matter of Loaf and Death - previously called Trouble 'At Mill - is a 30-minute TV special commissioned by BBC1. It is currently in production at the Aardman studios in Bristol and will be finished in late 2008.
