Portfolio of third party projects is expanded with stop-frame animated film.

Aardman International has secured the worldwide TV, DVD and online rights to Peter and the Wolf, bolstering its portfolio of third party properties in the process.

Produced by BreakThru Films, the latest film version of Prokofiev's classic work was first aired on Channel 4 last year. It was adapted and directed by BAFTA award winning Suzie Templeton and set to a special new recording by the Philharmonic Orchestra.

Peter and the Wolf has recently been short listed for an Academy Award. It has also won the 2007 Annecy Cristal and the Annecy Audience Awards, as well as the Rose d'Or award at the 2007 Festival for Entertainment Television Programming.

"Peter and the Wolf is a much-loved story worldwide and this latest adaptation showcases some incredible animation," said Alix Wiseman, head of sales at Aardman International.

"As Aardman continues to expand its portfolio, we are delighted to add this prestigious new film to our own growing slate of in-house productions."

Hugh Welchman, producer for Peter and the Wolf, added: "Aardman is the undisputed world leader in model animation, and I can think of no better place for Peter and the Wolf to be, than being a part of Aardman's high quality catalogue."
