BBC limbers up for Strictly licensing burst

World's most watched entertainment show to become key licensing brand for BBC Worldwide.

BBC Worldwide has revealed five new licensing deals for its award winning light entertainment show, Strictly Come Dancing, with the first phase of licensed merchandise due to arrive in the autumn.

The firm has awarded the master gift licence to Zeon, which will be developing a line of back packs, shoulder bags and vanity cases inspired by the glamour of the show. The range of planned product also includes jewellery, purses and cosmetics bags, glitter balls and an iPod cover and earphones.

In addition to the line of gifts, BBC has awarded clothing licences to Aykroyds and TDP for children's and adult nightwear, plus Cohen and Wilks for dance daywear.

Blueprint is also on board - with a collection of Strictly Come Dancing themed stationery products - while Danilo will provide calendars and diaries.

The new licensees will add to the Strictly Come Dancing publishing programme of over 130,000 books sold from BBC Books, U Music's top five CD and workout DVDs from 2Entertain.
