BBC Worldwide reveals new recruits

New senior VP of global licensing arrives; Jackie Ferguson becomes international licensing manager.

BBC Worldwide has made two new key appointments to its licensing team.

Tom Keefer arrives as senior vice president of global licensing for the company. He will report to Neil Ross Russell, MD of BBC Worldwide Children's and Licensing, and Garth Ancier, president of BBC Worldwide America.

Keefer will be responsible for growing licensing opportunities across the firm's portfolio of children's and adult brands, with an initial focus on the US market.

Keefer will lead the existing UK and international licensing teams headed by Richard Hollis, UK Head of Licensing, and Anna Hewitt, International Head of Licensing (currently on maternity leave).

He will work alongside Susanna Pollack, SVP TV sales and co-productions and children's, on building children's brands in the US market, and also oversee the development of adult licensing on brands such as BBC Earth, Doctor Who and Top Gear.

"One of our core objectives when restructuring the business last year was examining untapped potential in territories outside the UK, especially the US where such a high proportion of the world's licensing revenue is made," said Ross Russell. "Tom is the ideal candidate to drive growth in this fundamental part of our business - he brings a wealth of invaluable experience - which will inform a new global licensing strategy to maximise value from our fantastic portfolio of brands both in the US and across the rest of the world."

Among Keefer's new recruits is recently appointed international licensing manager Jackie Ferguson, who joins from ER and brings extensive experience from some 25 years in the licensing industry.

Keefer, meanwhile, has 30 years of experience in global licensing, having worked on brands including LA Gear and K-Swiss. He was head of international marketing and boys licensing and SVP/general manager at Mattel. He most recently worked on FIFA/2010 World Cup.
