BLE 2010: Bang on the Door to reveal new alliances

Recent deals for Fabric Animals and classic characters to be showcased across three days.

Bang on the Door will be highlighting a spate of recent activity at Brand Licensing Europe later this month, including a DTR with Mothercare and a charity tie up with Guide Dogs for the Blind.

Spreadshirt has recently launched a BOTD online t-shirt website, which will see it offer tees similar to those sold in Camden Market and which paved the way for the brand to move into licensing. Ranges on offer will include classic animals, Fabric Animals, Groovy Chick and Football Crazy.

The firm has also teamed up with Bluebird Brands to produce a new Fabric Animals range. The collection will include canvas bags and fabric plush, as well as mugs, umbrellas and plush-in-a-mug. All were exclusively previewed at Autumn Fair earlier this week.

"We are pleased to add Bluebird Brands to our licensee list for Fabric Animals," said Ian Downes, MD of Start Licensing, BOTD's licensing agent. "They are a company with great ideas, fantastic product development skills and a real desire to succeed."

In addition, BOTD has also been working with Guide Dogs for the Blind, producing Trusty the Guide Dog. The mini plush has been available in counter-top packs in Barclays branches, while Trusty will also be used in schools throughout the UK.

On top of this, a direct to retail deal exists with Mothercare for a full range of children's apparel. Mothercare has developed eight collections to date, with plans running into 2011.

Elsewhere, French stationery licensee Clairefontaine is developing Groovy Chick and girls back to school stationery and bags for 2011, while Brazilian stationery licensee Tilibra has bought greetings card firm Grafon's. The firm will begin producing a line of BOTD greetings cards for 2011 under the Grafton's name, while also continuing to develop stationery under the brand name of Tilibra.
