Shortlist includes Bagpuss, Postman Pat, Paddington, Peppa Pig and Wallace and Gromit among others.
Consumers are being asked to choose their favourite British animated character of all time as part of this year's British Animation Awards.
Characters on the shortlist include Roobarb & Custard, Bagpuss, Wallace and Gromit, Danger Mouse, Penfold, Timmy from Timmy Time, The Snowman, Mr Benn, Paddington, Count Duckula, Morph, Super Ted, Postman Pat, Tiny Clanger, Soup Dragon, Noggin the Nog, Uncle Nogbad, Lola from Charlie & Lola, Peppa Pig, Aleksandr Orlov the meerkat, the Cresta Bear and Simon's Cat.
The shortlist was compiled by members of the UK animation industry.
The British public will be able to pick the favourite in a poll run on the BAA Facebook page from February 20th through to March 9th.
The winner will be announced at the BAA ceremony at the BFI Southbank on March 15th.
"The UK is famed for its animation the world over," explained Jayne Pilling, BAA director. "This vote celebrates the illustrious heritage of cherished characters that have been created in the UK over the last few decades, and highlights the wealth of creative talent that could disappear if the industry continues to decline."
In addition, finalists for the jury-judged categories and the publicly voted Children's Choice award have also been revealed.
Highlights include Ben & Holly's Little Kingdom: Acorn Day, Octonauts: The Blobfish Brothers and Peppa Pig: The New House being nominated for Best Pre-school Series; The Amazing World of Gumball: The Quest and Rastamouse: Da Missin' Masterpiece up for Best Children's Series; and Get Squiggling!: Cat Episode, Baby Jake: Loves Tummy Sliding, and Bookaboo: Johnny Vegas fighting it out for Best Mixed Media Children's Series.
