Christopher Reeves' Superman III costume heads to auction

The Superman bodysuit, featuring his trademark belt, will be hitting the auction site on July 12th.

We’ve all done it, slipped a pair of red pants over our tights and ran around the room in an attempt at emulating the iconic Superman look.

Well, those days can now be thing of the past as ScreenUsed offers the public the chance to own the real thing.

The film and television memorabilia firm is hosting its seventh online auction, and taking centre stage is an original costume worn by Christopher Reeve in the 1983 film, Superman III.

The Superman bodysuit, featuring his trademark belt, accompanied by an actual Certificate of Authenticity from Warner Brothers Studios will be hitting the auction site on July 12th.

Action Figure Insider reports that this is the first time an original Superman costume has ever been released to the public with full Warner Brothers sanctioning.

Original Superman costumes have been a highly sought after item by film fans across the globe since Reeve’s tragic accident confined him to a wheel chair in 1995.

The costume is available for pre-bidding now, and the live auction will take place from 10am Pacific Time on July 12th, 2014 on the ScreenUsed website.
