City of Friends set for further growth in Nordics

CreaCon signs multi-year deal with Turner Broadcasting for pre-school show.

CreaCon is continuing to build up its pre-school show City of Friends, sealing a high profile deal with Turner Broadcasting System Europe to air the series across the Nordic region.

Turner has acquired the current City of Friends catalogue of two 26 x ten-minute series and two 30-minute specials. It will begin daily broadcasts of the animation in Norway, Finland, Sweden, Iceland and Denmark on Boomerang and Cartoon Network from October.

CreaCon has also begun development on a third series with its animation production partner Action Synthese Studios in France.

The agreement with Turner in the Nordics also boosts the licensing push for City of Friends. Alongside the seven-day broadcasting, CreaCon will execute a series of ad campaigns on Turner's network to support the licensing programme for the property.

"We are delighted to have entered into an important and strategically significant agreement with Turner Broadcasting," said Carl Christian Hamre, CEO of CreaCon. "We have always respected and admired Turner's ethos in nurturing and growing children's shows and we feel that City of Friends will perfectly complement and enhance their existing line-up."
