Reports suggest that Comcast may combine its own animation division, Illumination Entertainment, with DreamWorks.
Comcast is allegedly in talks to acquire DreamWorks Animation, in a deal worth around $3 billion.
According to reports, if Comcast buys the animation company, DreamWorks Animation could develop into an entertainment corporation that will control key properties, such as NBC, Universal Studios and Telemudo.
In addition, if the acquisition takes place, reports suggest that Comcast may combine its own animation division, Illumination Entertainment, with DreamWorks.
Christopher Meledandri, chief executive of Illumination Entertainment, is expected to take on the operation, with The Wall Street Journal citing ‘that would almost certainly mean the departure of Mr. Katzenberg’, DreamWorks Animation’s current CEO.
