Further fiction titles, plus colour books on the way under new deal.

David Walliams has signed a new multi-book deal with HarperCollins Children's Books.

The new agreement includes further fiction titles and will expand into colour books - a new publishing direction for Walliams.

The deal for world rights was bought from Paul Stevens at Independent Talent Group and extends Walliams' children's publishing, which began in 2008 with The Boy in the Dress, to 2016.

Walliams has notched up sales of over 1.5 million copies worldwide, with his books being translated into 25 languages.

He has become the fastest growing children's author in the UK marketplace, selling an average of 20,000 copies a week across all of his four titles. He is weeks away from hitting a TCM total of one million copies.

HarperCollins publisher, Ann-Janine Murtagh, said: "David Walliams' unique talent for storytelling with its hallmarks of wit and warmth has proved inspirational to children worldwide, and his titles are destined to be the classic children's books of the future."
