ABC results show good growth for girls' portfolio; firm in a 'robust' position.
DC Thomson's girls' titles - including The Official Jacqueline Wilson Magazine - have demonstrated strong circulation growth in the latest round of ABCs (July to December 2011).
Animals & You recorded eight per cent year on year growth and, for the third consecutive period, remains the number one primary girls animal title. The Official Jacqueline Wilson Mag, meanwhile, continues its growth, up 10.8 per cent YOY, against the backdrop of a primary girls market which was down 0.2 per cent.
Other highlights for the firm include Shout (up 21.1 per cent) and The Beano (up 3.2 per cent).
"DC Thomson remains in a robust position in the UK magazine market, with specific areas of strength in the children's and women's interest segments," said Irene Duncan, head of publishing at DC Thomson Consumer Entertainment. "We are particularly pleased with the superb growth of our girls' titles in the latest ABC report and our subscriber base has grown over 20 per cent in the last year.
"We will continue to position The Beano and The Dandy as great entertainment for children of all ages, as well as valuable tools for literacy, acting as the 'missing link' between picture books and chapter-based reading.
"We will also celebrate these British cultural icons' 75th anniversaries across 2012 and 2013."
