Demand outstripping supply for Bandai's new Thundercats toy line

Range hits retail on December 1st, with all available stock already snapped up by buyers.

Bandai is anticipating strong sales of its new Thundercats toy line, with all available stock already snapped up by keen retail buyers.

The collection of action figures, role-play items and vehicles hits retail on December 1st. As well as products inspired by the new cartoon series, the range will also include Classic Collector figures of Lion-O and Tygra from the original 1980s show.

Key items will include collectable figures, Thunder Racer cycles and the Thunder Tank with a Snarf action figure.

The predicted top seller is Lion-O's weapon, the Deluxe Sword of Omens.

"As soon as we heard there was to be a new Thundercats range of toys we knew we wanted stock," said Stuart Grant, buying director at The Entertainer. "Thundercats is expected to re-energise the boys' action market and be a huge Christmas seller.

"News from America is that it's flying off the shelves so we are confident it will have the same impact in the UK."

Andrew Welch, product manager for boys brands at Bandai UK, added: "Our Thundercats product range has previewed very well with all our retailers and with very encouraging early US sales we are excited about the launch of Thundercats in the UK."
