Audiences will see much more in terms of watchable content and merchandise, says CEO Bob Iger
Disney has revealed its Frozen franchise plan to carry the property over the next five years.
Discussing the extension of the successful franchise, the studio’s CEO Bob Iger told fans and media how audiences were likely ‘to see much more in terms of watchable content as well as merchandise.’
“You can expect us to take full advantage of that over the next at least five years,” he said.
To date, the Frozen soundtrack has sold an estimated 2.78 million units, topping the Billboard 200 album chart 13 times since January, reports the Huffington Post.
There is now a karaoke version of the soundtrack, while Disney’s Hollywood Studios has produced a new show, For the First Time In Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration.
Furthermore, a Broadway musical is currently under development, reports Yahoo, and Elsa, Anna and Kristoff will appear in the forthcoming season of TV show Once Upon A Time.
A new collection of Frozen merchandise will also be available from September in time for the Christmas market.
Frozen has also been named in Disney's top five franchises, rivalling the likes of Marvel and Pixar.
