Birthday celebrations including promotional campaigns are being developed as Christmas 2017 approaches.
Dr Seuss’s the Grinch is celebrating its 60th birthday this Christmas, after first appearing in the book, How The Grinch Who Stole Christmas, in 1957.
The Grinch has since inspired films and DVDs, as well as a long-lasting licensing programme that is managed in the UK by Rocket Licensing.
Birthday celebrations are planned for the fourth quarter of 2017, which will include an anniversary logo and target marketing, such as in-store activity, PR and events.
New products from a range of licensees will also be available, including kids’ nightwear and underwear from Cooneen and Misirli and BC International, home textiles from Dreamtex, footwear and slippers from Brand International Group and more.
Susan Brandt, president of Dr. Seuss Enterprises, L.P., owner of the Grinch brand, said: “It’s a tribute to the originality and timelessness of Dr Seuss’s stories, that a character that first appeared in the 1950s is still attracting new fans and enjoying strong licensing support 60 years later.
“We’d like to wish the Grinch Happy Birthday for December and, of course, Merry Christmas, though he may not want to hear that.”
