Total revenue stood at $219.0m and net income at $24.3m for the period.
DreamWorks Animation has posted its financial results for the fourth quarter ending December 31st 2011.
The company reported total revenue of $219.0 million and net income of $24.3 million for the period. This compares to revenues of $275.6 million and net income of $85 million for the same period in 2010.
Meanwhile, for the 12 months ending December 31st 2011, DreamWorks reported total revenue of $706.0 million (2010: $784.7 million) and net income of $86.8 million (2010: $170.6 million).
Kung Fu Panda 2 - which grossed $665 million at the worldwide box office - contributed $49.6 million of revenue in the quarter, driven primarily by its home entertainment performance. The film reached an estimated 5.1 million home entertainment units sold worldwide through the end of the fourth quarter.
Puss in Boots - which has grossed $535 million at the worldwide box office to date - contributed $23.8 million of revenue in the quarter, driven by the box office performance and merchandising and licensing activities.
Other contributors to the results included Megamind (£19.4 million, mainly driven by international pay television); Shrek Forever After ($8.8 million) and How To Train Your Dragon ($7.7 million), both driven by worldwide home entertainment and international television.
DreamWorks said that it expects its full year 2012 results to be driven primarily by the performance of Madagascar 3, which is due to be released on June 8th.
