Egmont grows digital classic comics offering

Further titles join popular comic series from the 70s and 80s.

Egmont has expanded its Classic Comics imprint with a number of new offerings.

Four volumes of Roy of the Rovers kicked off the firm’s e-comic publishing back in June. A fifth Roy of the Rovers has now been made available, along with publications from Misty and The Thirteenth Floor.

From Battle Picture Weekly, Egmont will be publishing various strips including Johnny Red, Major Eazy and Charley’s War.

“Roy, Battle, Misty… these are iconic magazines which still have a place in the national consciousness,” said David Riley, MD of Egmont Publishing Group. “They deserve to be brought back; their appeal also has the potential to transcend the generation gap and reach an entirely new, younger audience.

“With the limitless possibilities offered up by digital publishing, there has never been a better time to bring these comics to the fore.”

Egmont’s Classic Comics are available from the iBooks Store on iPad for £1.99 each.
