eOne reveals US Peppa Pig publishing partners

Candlewick Press and Scholastic to launch licensed books in August

 

Scholastic and Candlewick Press have been named US publishing partners for Peppa Pig.

Both book publishers will work with Fisher-Price and Entertainment One to prepare for a retail launch in August, which also sees Peppa Pig toys and DVDs make their US debut.

Scholastic will launch a picture book, a paperback 8x8 book and a sticker-based storybook. Candlewick Press meanwhile is working on a range of hardcover and premium books, including Peppa Pig and the Lost Christmas List in September. Two will follow in spring 2013 – Peppa Pig and the Muddy Puddles, and Peppa Pig and the Busy Day at School.

Entertainment One’s head of global licensing Andrew Carley said: “Publishing has always been a crucial category to the licensing programme so we’re absolutely thrilled to welcome Scholastic and Candlewick Press to the Peppa licensing programme."

Scholastic VP and publisher Debra Dorfman added: “We are long-time fans of Peppa and have been waiting patiently for her arrival in the US. We are excited about partnering with Entertainment One and I know the adorable books we are planning to publish will please all of her fans.”

Candlewick’s editor at large Joan Powers commented: “We’re thrilled to help introduce Peppa Pig to North American readers. We’ve watched Peppa become a superstar in the UK and are delighted to watch her growing popularity among children and families here.”
