New company backed by former chairman Lord Alli picks up Octonauts and Beatrix Potter.

A new firm backed by the former chairman of Chorion, Lord Waheed Alli, has acquired the rights to Octonauts and the World of Beatrix Potter, according to various internet reports this afternoon.

The Guardian, Broadcast and C21 have all reported that Silvergate Media beat "significant interest" from rival bidders for the two properties.

Lord Alli - who resigned from Chorion last month along with deputy chairman William Astor - is believed to have financed the purchase with the help of the sale of half of his £30 million stake in fashion etailer, ASOS.
