FME grows kids and family division with Bookaboo

Firm acquires global format, distribution and licensing rights for Happy Films show.

FremantleMedia Enterprises has added Bookaboo to its Kids and Family Entertainment catalogue.

The firm has picked up the global format, distribution (both excluding the UK and Australia) and licensing rights for the pre-school property, which combines puppetry, live action and CGI animation.

Bookaboo was commissioned by CITV in the UK back in 2009 and promotes children's literacy by encouraging story time in the home.

"We are thrilled to have added this original, colourful and musical property to our catalogue," said Sander Schwartz, president of Kids and Family Entertainment at FME.

Lucy Goodman, head of Happy Films, which makes the show, added: "I am immensely proud that FME will be taking the unique rock n read brand of Bookaboo to global audiences."
