Gemma hires new COO

David Wesson takes on newly created role of chief operating officer.

Licensed greeting card specialist Gemma International has appointed former retail man David Wesson to the newly created post of chief operating officer.

The appointment comes at the same time as the company's new strategic approach to publishing for this year and beyond.

Wesson arrives at Gemma with over 15 years experience in retail, both in the entertainment sector at Virgin Megastores (where he was trading director) and as commercial director in the greetings sector at Celebrations.

"I am thrilled to be joining the team at Gemma at this exciting time, to be able to bring my experience as a retailer to develop, within the business, a true alignment of our thinking with our customers' requirements and to deliver these with excellence, day in day out," said Wesson.

"Over the next year or so, we will establish Gemma as a pre-eminent force in the greetings industry.

"We will do this by putting our retail customers first and working with them to deliver the best product range innovation, quality and price to the consumer."
