GIRLS MONTH: Pyramid picks Angel Cat Sugar

Range of stationery and posters featuring character to launch in August.

Pyramid International has signed up to produce posters and a stationery line for Angel Cat Sugar, the character developed by Hello Kitty creator, Yuko Shimizu.

As well as the posters, stationery items will include A5 notebooks, pencil case and pencils in two colourways - blue featuring roses and pink with ice-cream motifs.

Since its launch seven years ago, Angel Cat Sugar has spread in popularity in the US and the UK, as well as its home market of Japan. Celebrity fans include TV presenter Lisa Snowdon (pictured), Dannii Minogue, Fearne Cotton and former Spice Girl, Geri Halliwell among others.

The character launched in Japan in March 2003 and has grown to include over 300 licensed products in over 15 countries. During 2009, more than two million Angel Cat Sugar products were sold Europe-wide.

As well as Pyramid International, other UK licensees include Trade Mark Collections (bags), UK Greetings (greeting cards), Amscan (foil balloons), Samuel Eden (socks and tights) and Fine Décor.
