Longest toy train track created at Fuji-Q Highland theme park in Japan.

The world record to create the longest toy train track has been broken in Japan, using Tomy's Plarail Thomas series.

At 2,221.514 metres long, the track has beaten the previous record - which was set in Australia last year - by 207 metres.

The diorama track was constructed by 40 pairs of parent and child teams from across the country at the Highland Hall Theatre. The track was declared a record breaker by Frank Foley, the Guinness World Record Asia Pacific representative.

The length of the track is six times the height of the Eiffel Tower and is five times higher than the Empire State Building.

"After previously holding the title in 2006, everyone on the Thomas team in Japan is delighted to have reclaimed the world record," said Antonio Huab, Hit Entertainment's SVP Thomas & Friends Asia Pacific. "Thomas is hugely popular in Japan and the finished record breaking track makes a great additional attraction to Fuji-Q Highland in Japan."

The track will be on display in Thomas Land Japan until September 4th as part of the park's special summer event.
