Hallmark signs brace of MGL humour lines

Histericals and Spectickles added to greeting card firm's portfolio.

MGL has struck deals for two of its humour brands with Hallmark UK.

Peter Adderley's Histericals line (pictured) includes a range of limited edition prints. The tie up with Hallmark is the latest in a line of deals secured by MGL - since his launch at Surtex last year, Adderley has found partners in canvas art, collectable wall plaques, jigsaws and homewares.

Daniel Grant, senior licensing manager at Hallmark, said: "We are very pleased to introduce the Peter Adderley humour illustrations into our Hallmark licence portfolio. This exciting acquisition will help to increase our offering in the humour related greeting card sector, which continues to prove a successful area of our overall card business.

"We look forward to launching this range into key retailers in the coming months."

In addition, Hallmark has also signed up the Spectickles range by US cartoonist Bill Abbott. His work has appeared in numerous magazines and books throughout the US.

"Hallmark is such an iconic name throughout the world," Abbott commented. "Having my Spectickles characters associated with that name is a thrill and an honour."

Sarah Lawrence, licensing manager at MGL, added: "We are very pleased to be collaborating with Hallmark. They are a category leader and this enables us to expand the Bill Abbott portfolio."
