King Features appoints Mexico-based agent Tycoon

Tycoon Group to represent King in Mexico, Central America, Ecuador, Colombia and Venezuela

King Features, licensor of Betty Boop and Popeye, has appointed Tycoon Group as its agent for Mexico, Central America, Ecuador, Colombia and Venezuela.

Tycoon is the longest-running licensing agency in Mexico, with offices in Mexico, Colombia, Costa Rica, Chile, Peru and Brazil.

Tycoon will work closely with King Features to develop innovative programs for the company’s Betty Boop, Baby Boop, Popeye, Olive Oyl and Baby Popeye & Friends brands, along with Archie Comics and heritage comic properties including Blondie, Beetle Bailey and Hagar.

“We are delighted to retain the services of Tycoon,” said Cathleen Titus, vice president of International Licensing for King Features.

“They have developed strong relationships with quality licensees in a variety of categories as well as throughout the retail community. We believe they will do an excellent job of expanding the licensing program for our classic properties.”

Elias Fasja, president of Tycoon Enterprises, added: "We are truly proud to have been appointed to represent such amazing classics as Betty Boop, Popeye and Olive Oyl.

“These are powerful brands which further strengthen our position among character brands for all ages.

"There is a depth to these characters which has proven transcendant over time and which consumers sense somehow and recognize in licensed product. They have a strong symbolic quality which we know will be appreciated by our consumers."
