The firm aims to focus on investment, co-production and enhancing ties with Europe.
Media services company Larkshead Media has announced the opening of a partner company in Ireland: Larkshead Media Ireland. The office, which officially opened for business on May 1st, is located in Dublin City Centre and will focus on investment, co-production and enhancing ties with Europe.
The new office will support Larkhead’s overall offering, which includes development, strategy, investment, licensing & merchandising, and distribution, with an emphasis on kids’ programming. However, the main focus of Larkshead Media Ireland will be finance, investment packaging and co-production. Ireland was chosen as an ideal location from which to spearhead these activities because of the tax shelter, subsidy and investment opportunities it offers, and also because it has a large and very successful animation studio resource supported by a strong talent pool.
"The Ireland office will also play an important part in Larkshead’s plans for the wider European market. At a time of uncertainty regarding the UK’s position in Europe, the Ireland office will give Larkshead the opportunity to continue to grow and build relationships in Europe, in addition to the UK," reads a statement from the firm.
The office will be run by Eamon McElwee (pictured), who has 25 years’ international experience as producer, media business development consultant and managing director. He brings to the new post a strong background in business development, most notably in kids’ television, animation, and documentaries, in the UK, Ireland and internationally.
“This new office not only offers opportunity in finance, investment packaging and co-production but is a strong statement regarding our ambitions in Europe," commented CEO Tim Patterson. "This initiative is further enhanced by the appointment of Eamon McElwee, who brings diverse experience in funding and business development for media projects, to this very important new role. We're delighted to have Eamon on board.”
