Planeta Junior gears up for cinema launch by securing key merchandising partners.
The cinema launch may still be four months away, but Spanish firm Planeta Junior has already attracted several big name licensees to the campaign for Planet 51.
The company represents the property in the Spanish, Portuguese and Italian markets. The alien comedy is due to debut in November and features the voices of Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, Jessica Biel, Gary Oldman, Sean William Scott, Justin Long and John Cleese among others.
HarperCollins, Random House, Nestlé, Simba, Famosa, Saica, Stor, Blade, Giochi Preziosi, Insight Editions, Admiranda, Medialive Content and DeAgostini are all on board.
In addition, Jazwares has been appointed the master toy partner, while Sega/Pyro Studios is planning a video game.
Zed Worldwide is handling the development of interactive content, while deals have also been reached with Burger King and NASA.
Planet 51 is the most expensive movie in Spanish history, with a E55 million production budget and E150 million for worldwide promotion. It will hit the US - via Sony Pictures Entertainment - on November 20th, followed a week later in 170 countries.
