Popular children's show reaches top spot in territories ahead of 2014 product roll-out.

Platinum Film's adventure comedy series, Matt Hatter Chronicles has reached the top spot in Portugal and Spain since its launch on Canal Panda last month.

The show's success precedes a planned licensed product launch from Biplano across the territories in 2014.

Following its premiere on Canal Panda, Portugal on March 18th, Matt Hatter has already become the channel's number one animated series for boys.

Seasons one and two of the CGI animation will run daily throughout 2013 on the channel.

Since its Spanish debut on April 1st, the show has driven the channel's average ratings to an all-time high, increasing the slot averge by 41 per cent.

The show will launch on Spanish pubcaster RTVE's Clan TV in Q4 of 2013.

Isabel Mimoso, channel director for Canal Panda Portugal, said: "We are all delighted and very excited about the success of Matt Hatter.

"Since its launch, Matt Hatter Chronicles has quickly emerged as the best performing series for boys aged six to 12-years-old on Canal Panda and the second most viewed animated series across all kid's cable channels in Portugal.

"Such a performance has a huge impact on our channel's results in terms of ratings and audience share and makes Matt Hatter a very important asset to our channel line-up."

Platinum film's CEO, Nigel Stone, said: "Matt Hatter has proved an instant hit with audiences across Portugal and Spain and further highlights the magnetism of this exciting property.

"The scale and speed of the engagement from new Hater fans has been fantastic and we are now working closely with Canal Panda to build upon this success with additional online activity, new localised games and Matt Hatter social media campaigns."

In the UK, CiTV has enjoyed similar response to the show with 3.5million individuals tuning in between January and april this year.
