Michael Acton Smith steps down as Mind Candy boss

Creator of Moshi Monsters has revealed his plans to take on a "more creative role" with the company.

Mind Candy boss and man behind children’s property Moshi Monsters, Michael Acton Smith is to step down.

After ten years of running the business, Acton Smith has revealed that he wanted to focus on a “more creative role” rather than the day-to-day running of the firm.

Divinia Knowles, current chief operating and financial officer of Mind Candy will now step in to the role of president.

Acton Smith made the announcement via a YouTube video, in which he emphasised that he has no plans to leave the company, but admitted that it was time for him to move to a more creative role.

“I am self-aware enough to know that I am much better on the creative side of the business than on the operations side,” he said.

“I have notebooks filed with ideas, sketches and scribbles, and doodles over the last few years of new characters and stories that we can create here at Mind Candy.”

The company has revealed that a new chief executive will be announced at a later date, and the position will go to “someone with a lot of entertainment, media and traditional big company experience.”
