MiniMono breaks into mobile gaming

The free to play MonkeyMe app is the first in series for the company in 2013.

MiniMonos has broken into the mobile games space with an iOS Exclusive, MonkeyMe app.

The first in a series of apps scheduled for 2013, MonkeyMe allows players to adorn a monkey in a variety of costumes, props and backgrounds.

Possible costumes range from Pirate Monkeys with eyepatches to disco primates wearing afros and mirror sunglasses.

Once created, the dressed-up monkey's can be entered into the daily MonkeyMe competition, where players can got on a gallery of creations.

Each monkey receives coins for entering and players are rewarded for voting. The coins can then be used in the app shop to unlock new wardrobe items.

The MonkeyMe app is free to play and allows parents to prohibit children from making in app purchases.

Melissa Clark, founder of MiniMonos, said: "After the huge success of iPad Mini at Christmas, it was clear this was the right time to move into the touch space.

"We think that the kids space is going to be increasingly dominated by apps, and have planned an aggressive roll-out of apps based on our original IP this year.

"It made sense for us to start with an identity app given the demographic of our core fan base of over 1.5m children.

"We are really excited about bringing our most popular online games to touch devices later in the year."
