Electronic Arts readying first Hasbro-branded video game for Nintendo Wii and Microsoft Xbox 360.

The Casual Entertainment label of video games publisher Electronic Arts is lining up Monopoly as the first Hasbro-branded games release following its deal last year.

The game will appear on Nintendo's Wii system, plus Sony's PlayStation 2, Microsoft's Xbox 360 and mobile platforms. It has been inspired by the Monopoly Here and Now: The World Edition board game.

Currently, the video game is due to launch simultaneously with the new board game later this year.

"EA is taking Monopoly's core gameplay and bringing it to life in a way never imagined before," said Chip Lange, VP and general manager of EA's Casual label. "With this dynamic take on Hasbro's classic board game, we've accelerated the pace of play, added new interactive mini-game sequences and integrated multi-player moments designed to make Monopoly a non-stop party for the whole family."

Mark Blecher, general manager of digital media and gaming at Hasbro, added: "It promises to be a very exciting fall for Monopoly fans worldwide. EA has done a tremendous job of reimagining the world's most popular board game.

"Rolling the dice and passing go will never be the same."
