Meanwhile, aimed at an older audience, Germany's Blue Ocean Entertainment has just published the first edition of a South Park magazine, distributed across Germany, Switzerland and Austria. Each issue of the quarterly title includes a fan giveaway. Initial print run was 80,000 copies.
Japanese publisher Takarajimasha is transforming made-for-mobile animated short film property Usavich into a magazine-book (mook). It includes a reader giveaway of the Usavich tote bag, an interview with the film's creator, an explanation of the characters and storylines and a product catalogue.
Takarajimasha has also just published the first official Spongebob Squarepants fan publication in Japan.
Another first for the category comes in the form of the devut of iCarly magazine in Brazil, part of a wider multi-property deal with Panini. Content includes story plots, games and photo stories, plus guides on how to set up a website and start a blog.
Finally, NCP in the UK has signed a new deal with Pedigree for a South Park comic annual. It will feature two 64-page comics per release, with the next title due in the autumn.
