New chain of Moomin cafés set to open across Europe

The new Mumin Kaffe chain is designed specially for children.

A new chain of Moomin cafés, designed for children, are set to open across Europe.

The licensed Mumin Kaffe chain will boast sites in Helsinki, Finland and later in other European countries.

Finland's Mumin Kaffe will be the first children’s Moomin café in Europe, opening on Monday, October 31st.

The idea for a child-friendly café came up when journalist Sanna Kiiski wanted to set up a meeting place where children are warmly welcome. Restaurateur Mehdi Younes mobilised the idea for a café concept and a Europe-wide license agreement with Moomin Characters Oy was signed.

The next Mumin Kaffe will open its doors in Stockholm before Christmas this year.

Starting in October, the Finnish video blogger Maija Ilmoniemi will be producing a video blog of Mumin Kaffe’s story, covering the construction of the café up to after the café has opened its doors.
