New series for Henry

CITV commissions Novel to produce second season of Horrid Henry animation.

After the first season proved to be a ratings winner, CITV has asked Novel Entertainment to produce a second series of its Horrid Henry animation.

A further 52x11 minutes of the 2D animated series will start immediate production for broadcast on ITV1 and CITV in spring 2009.

The new series will see Henry get up to more of the mischief which has made the show so popular - unmasking an international stamp thief, saving the world from alien invasion and trying to set a new world record.

Mike Watts, MD of Novel Entertainment, said: "Horrid Henry's popularity is going from strength to strength and we are thrilled that CITV has committed to a further series enabling us to animate more of his adventures."

The show is also proving to be an international hit. It has most recently sold to Disney Channel in France, with sales also brokered with ZDF Germany, RTE Eire, RUV Iceland, SVT Sweden, NRK Norway and YLE Finland.

Deals are also currently being negotiated for South Africa, Turkey and Portugal.
