Pre-school channel launches I Love Art promotion, featuring four short films.
Nick Jr is joining forces with the National Gallery for a special promotion which aims to encourage children to engage with classical works of art.
I Love Art will feature a series of four short films, bringing to life famous works from the likes of Rousseau and Seurat, demonstrating the 'fantastical' elements as experienced by a pre-school child.
The series includes four masterpieces housed in the National Gallery: Henri Rousseau's Surprised; George Seurat's Bathers; Jan Gossaert's The Adoration of the Kings; and Pierre-Auguste Renoir's Umbrellas.
Each film features two pre-schoolers visiting the National Gallery and viewing a painting which comes to life through animation.
The pre-schoolers are transported into the image and in some films elements of the painting enter the real world. Nick Jr viewers will watch the pre-schoolers explore the pictures in depth and detail, considering themes such as scale, size, space, colours, emotions and characters.
"I Love Art helps children appreciate famous works of art on their own terms," explained Peter Drake, VP, creative director for Nickelodeon UK. "The campaign encourages kids to discover elements they understand and find appealing, and empowers them to explore these with their own imagination.
"This falls in line with the channel's commitment to help young audiences explore, appreciate and understand the world around them."
