No slowdown in sight for Peppa Pig

New licensees signed, DVD sales pass one million mark in UK.

Peppa Pig's popularity is continuing to soar, with Contender Entertainment's latest update on the property including news of more licensees and healthy DVD and magazine sales.

Three years after the first DVD was released, sales have passed the one million mark in the UK. The latest DVD - The Balloon Ride - continues to sell well, with unit sales in excess of 24,000 after only five weeks.

Sales of the Fun to Learn Peppa Pig magazine hit an all-time high in February, with publisher Redan recording sales of 61,000 copies.

Moving on, and Peppa Pig will be joining other characters like Rupert Bear, Little Princess, Fifi, Mr Bump and Noddy on a national theatre tour to meet fans. Five's Milkshake Live My First Concert tour will visit 15 venues across the country for 60 performances. It will run from June 28th until August 30th.

Finally, a number of new licensees have come on board. Party Plus is planning a line of Peppa partyware; PMS International will roll out plush for the amusement and leisure industry; while Inspiration Works is planning a range of education electronic toys.

These will include Peppa Pig's Fun Phonics, an illustrated backlit alphabet board, and Peppa's Magic Mirror, which features sound effects associated with the main characters in the show.
