Novel scores more Horrid Henry deals

New broadcast and home entertainment agreements secured as firm heads into MIPTV.

Independent producer Novel Entertainment is heading into MIPTV next month with new sales in place for its animated property Horrid Henry.

In Germany, ZDF has extended its commitment, picking up the second series after a successful run with series one on ZDF and Kika. In Poland, Op Art SP Zoo has acquired both TV and DVD rights to series one and two of the 2D animated show, while in Sweden, SVT has secured rights to the first 52 episodes for its main terrestrial channel SVT1.

In addition, Village Roadshow has picked up DVD rights to both series for Australia and New Zealand, with releases planned for September 2009 and 2010. There will be a marketing focus around establishing Horrid Henry in the retail market by April Fools Day next year.

"Horrid Henry's popularity continues to grow and we are excited to be taking the show to new audiences worldwide," said Mike Watts, MD of Novel Entertainment. "With these new partners now in place we are looking forward to securing further deals at MIPTV."

A total of 104 episodes are now available to buyers, as CITV has commissioned a second series of the show. Novel is currently in production on the 52 new episodes with delivery due in the spring.
