Pac-man brand heads to TV

US TV rights granted to Disney XD for new animated action comedy series.

The iconic video games character Pac-man is heading to TV screens in the US.

Namco Bandai Games, Arad Productions and 41 Entertainment have granted the US TV rights to a new animation action comedy series to Disney XD.

Current called Pac-man: The Adventure Begins, the series is pencilled in to air from autumn 2013.

Arad Productions specialises in adapting and converting genre characters and brands into film, TV, animation, video games and toys. The firm is headed by Avi Arad, whose credits as a producer include the Spider-man movie franchise, the X-Men franchise, Iron Man and Ghost Rider to name a few.

Arad commented: "I am very excited about producing Pac-man: The Adventure Begins. Pac-man is one of the world's greatest icons. He is funny and adventurous and will bring his tone and abilities to this beautifully executed animated series.

"For more than 30 years, Pac-man has been a household name. Having this property on Disney XD is its rightful place to be."

Mr Unozawa, COO at Namco Bandai Games, added: "Along with Disney and the rest of our valuable partners, we are confident of the immediate success that this new Pac-man venture will generate, and it is sure to transcend generations once again."
