New games will be the blueprint for new animation and 'an exciting array' of consumer products.
Nintendo has announced the first ever ‘proper’ 3D Pokemon outings – Pokemon X and Pokemon Y.
In a press release, Nintendo stated that the new games "will be the blueprint for an exciting array of new animation, Pokémon TCG, and toys debuting around the world."
It’s also the first time the series has been released on 3DS.
Nintendo president Saturo Iwata went to great lengths to repeatedly tell his Pokemon Direct audience that the game will release simultaneously worldwide – previous instalments have always been released in Japan first.
Both games will be released in October 2013.
Little else is known about the games, aside from the fact they will unsurprisingly include new Pokemon.
