Postman Pat hits toy top spot

NPD figures for Classic Media property show toy range is experiencing strong sales.

The Postman Pat SDS toy line from Character Options is continuing to notch up the sales at retail, with the vehicle and accessory set ranked as the number one pre-school toy according to NPD figures for July.

Led by Character, the new SDS range launched at retail back in January and is proving to be highly successful, with increased listings for autumn/winter, backed by a full product roll out from over 70 UK licensees.

Throughout the fourth quarter, there will be a heavy TV advertising schedule, with over 550 TVRs planned from Character, as well as a TV campaign in October from Casdon to launch its new Postman Pat SDS steering wheel.

"The new SDS range is performing extremely well at retail with the brand currently ranked as the number nine pre-school licence in the UK (Source: NPD July)," said Claire Shaw, director of consumer products at Classic Media. "With the heavy TV advertising schedule from Character and Casdon throughout the all-important selling period, we are expecting Postman Pat to really deliver at retail this Christmas."
