PRE-SCHOOL MONTH: Coolabi's Poppy Cat to hit TV

Literary series to air on Nick Jr in 2011; further international pre-sales confirmed.

Production is underway on an animated TV series based on the popular children's book property, Poppy Cat.

Coolabi and King Rollo Films have already had the series commissioned by Nick Jr UK, and it is due to air in 2011.

On top of this, Coolabi is also reporting strong international pre-sales. Sales are so far confirmed to Nick Jr Australia, RTE Ireland, YLE Finland, TV2 Norway and TVO, SCN and Knowledge Network in Canada. Other international broadcast partners are expected to be announced shortly by Cake Entertainment, which has signed as global TV distribution partner for the series. The firm will be showing Poppy Cat at Mipcom Jr.

"We are very proud to be investing in animation in our lead market, particularly when the UK animation industry is having funding challenges at present," said Michael Dee, Coolabi's director of content. "We are pleased to be working in conjunction with both Nick Jr and King Rollo Films in the UK to bring Poppy Cat's adventures to life for audiences across the globe."

Leo Nielsen, owner and co-founder of King Rollo Films, added: "Poppy Cat is one of the most exciting and visually compelling series we have produced and it is exciting to see the production taking shape."
