Rainbow readies characters for summer festival appearances

Pre-school favourites to appear at Lollibop, Lounge on the Farm and Great Yorkshire Show among others.

Rainbow Productions is gearing up for a busy summer, with its pre-school costume characters appearing at a number of festivals and events across the UK.

Locations such as shopping centres, large retail outlets, leisure attractions and nurseries will all offer an opportunity for the public to see and interact with a number of popular characters.

Every day during the Great Yorkshire Show - which took place in Harrogate from July 9th to 11th - Wallace and Gromit, as well as Shaun the Sheep, made appearances in the BBC Yorkshire catchment area. This year, the 155th edition of the show attracted 134,837 visitors to see the Aardman trio.

Upcoming summer events featuring a show presence from Rainbow Productions' licensed children's characters include Lollibop - running from August 16th to 18th in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Characters confirmed to date include SpottyWot and DottyWot from The WotWots, Poppy Cat, Postman Pat and Jess the Cat, Tommy and Tallulah from Tickety Toc, Baba Blue and Baba Pink from Cloudbabies, Peppa Pig and Lalaloopsy Jewel Sparkles.

Other live events include Lounge on the Farm. The music festival at Merton Farm in Canterbury runs from July 26th to 28th, featuring local bands and musicians and appearances from Peppa Pig and George.

In addition, every Wednesday for four consecutive weeks - starting at the end of July - Coventry City Council has arranged for children's characters to meet and greet families in the city centre as part of a summer activities programme.

Characters will include Mike the Knight (July 31st), Fireman Sam (August 7th), Ben and Holly (August 14th) and Fifi Forget-Me-Not (August 21st).

Arranged by Heart of Manchester BID - the city's new Business Improvement District), Peppa Pig will also be greeting fans at the Festival Hub in Exchange Square on August 6th. This is part of a gardening festival called Dig the City which runs from August 3rd to 11th.
